3M 5N11 N95 Particulate Filter - Single Filter

This filter is rated for solid and non-oil-based liquid particles such as sanding and grinding dust. It is not resistant to oil aerosols, so it is not the right filter for spraying oil-based paints, lacquers, or solvent-borne coatings. Choose a P-series filter for that work. This filter does not protect against gases or vapors, and it is not approved for oxygen-deficient or IDLH atmospheres.

This filter does not clip on by itself. It is held in place by a 3M 501 Filter Retainer on 3M 5000 Series respirators, on 3M 6000 Series cartridges, or on a 3M 603 Filter Adapter. To use it on a bayonet-style half or full facepiece you need the 603 adapter as well as the 501 retainer.

Sold as one individual filter, sized to keep a spare in the kit or replace a single loaded element without opening a full box. The 5N11 is stamped with its NIOSH approval on the filter itself and is rated N95, meaning it captures at least 95 percent of airborne particles that are not oil-based. It is the filter to reach for on dust-generating work: sanding drywall, grinding, cutting masonry, and general jobsite dust.

The filter is printed "Mask side" on one face so it goes on the right way round. It layers over a cartridge or respirator and is secured with the 3M 501 retainer, which lets you add particulate filtration on top of a gas or vapor cartridge, or run the filter on its own for straight dust work.
